{August 28, 2008}   Patients get stripper therapy

London – Four British men, all suffering from a rare brain disease, were allowed to swap pills for thrills recently, when nurses arranged a night out to a lap dancing club for them, Britain’s Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

The Huntington’s disease patients were treated to individual dances, roulette and free drinks at the Divas Gentlemen’s Club in Newquay, Cornwall, in south-west England, the newspaper said.

Their hosts included an entertainer with pink hair and a former topless model.

Nurses from the Millaton Court Nursing Home in Cornwall, where the men were being cared for, said the “boys night out” followed a request from one of the patients, the newspaper said.

“The girls were very nice – we all had a lap dance individually. I’d like to go again,” one of the patients, Stephen Pitt, 54, was quoted as saying.

The report also mentioned an earlier case in which a 90-year-old woman at another care home in Cornwall was served fish and chips by a waiter in a thong. – Sapa-dpa
